Nothing short of perfected Elegance
At McKay Brown we work with some of the worlds most talented and regarded master hand engravers. Clients may choose from our classic house patterns or opt to have their own bespoke personalized designs.
Through years of research the McKay Brown team has settled on two main Engravers to work on our guns, giving clients the ultimate choice on designs that’ll suit our guns the best. Chosen specifically for quality, taste and creativity, G.S. Pedretti and Creative Art cannot be matched.
If clients wish for another specific engraver, we will work with them to satisfy their request.
Based in Val Trompia, Italy, Pedretti has become one of the finest and most collected engravers in the world. Famous for the sheer perfection in every piece of work carried out by them. There is no finer choice for scroll work, portrait and game scenes, quite literally engraving pictures onto action bodies that can be mistaken for photos at any time.
With their refined ‘Bulino’ technique, the background to scroll work makes the patterns become alive, almost creating a three-dimensional effect when taken into light. This perfectly complements the McKay Brown round action as there are no harsh edges to get in the way of the stunning engraving.
Also Based in Val Trompia, Italy, Creative Art excel at deep-carve engraving styles. Famously engraving our ‘Plumage’ guns, the three-dimensional carving technique creates a textile pattern across the entire surface of the action, incorporating feathers from the bird of choice (Quail, Pheasant, Partridge etc.). This results in a truly unique and personal look over the whole gun.
Over the years Creative Art has given great importance to both traditional engraving and projects with extraordinary novelties. Projects in which quality and precision of the engravings come together for a wonderful result. For example, engravings with a gold background and machining chiseling enamels. They engrave everything from Celtic scroll to game scenes to ‘Fantasy’ designs.
